Candy Man, Candy Ads
As a child I always ate candy. I didn't really have any rules on what I ate and if I found the change or babysat enough I could go buy whatever I wanted. I used to eat sour candies until my tongue hurt. You know? That raw, cut up feeling that sour sugars seem to do to your tongue. I loved it. I just had a few "rest days" then continued. My favorite of those sour candies were Sour Patch Kids. The first time I ever had them was at a movie theater with my Mom. Since then I couldn't stop. Candy ads that are all sweet and sugary are normally aimed at kids and teens. These commercials were never around for me as a kid and I wish they were, I probably would have eaten more! Just for hoping that maybe I'd have a three foot tall Sour Patch Kid come cut my hair off. Repetition - All of the Sour Patch Kids commercials have the same slogan: "First they're sour, then they're sweet." Also, each commercial has the Sour Patch Kid, themselves, do something mean, and then make up for it. Humor - When the sour patch kid does something "sour" it is usually something pretty humorous, it makes you remember the commercial. Warm and Fuzzy - Right after the Sour Patch Kid does something mean it does something sweet to make up for it which I know has given me a good feeling inside and I saw "awww". You remember the commercial when you see these in a store and you just feel good. Plain folks - The boy in the commercial is your average young teenage boy. He is easy to relate to, not making the product seem out of reach.
